 Ad. 5 General Information:

Dear Szondi Friends,

At last I have again the possibility, thanks to my friends IT specialists Slavick and Oksana Sjibajev, to update the Forum with the  latest Szondi News.

Especially promising for the Szondi movement is the fact that we, during the last four months, got 10.000   logg in’s on the Forum. It shows that the interest in Szondi is rising. In my opinion we have for a great part to thank Dr. Arthur C. Johnston for this progress. He has in an astonishing short time made large translations of important classical Szondi and Mélon texts. (e.g  The Szondi Course de Jean Mélon.and the translation of Szondi’s chapter  “Ego Analysis” from German. Moreover he at present corrects all my English texts-. .

As for the general policy of the Forum we have somewhat changed our objectives. Although there exists still many interesting articles to translate from French into English, (e.g. the .articles of the Cahiers) at present we plan to concentrate our contributions mainly on the “Praxis” of the Szondi test interpretation . Luckily enough for us has Dr. Jean Mélon during the last years published many interesting case histories, presented by his students at his seminars. With his usual generosity he permitted me to publish and translate them into English and transfer them to professionals.

The first translations I have already sent, by way of specific email addresses, to well known Szondi specialists.

(By the way if you want your email address taken away let me know and I will radiate it. The same in case when you get the same message twice, let us know please)

However I will try in the future to put these case histories on the Szondi Forum as “closed files” , which only  can be opened by professionals who got the specific code keyword to open them. As soon as this is working I send all of you who are in my email register this codeword. In the mean time I continue to send you these in the usual way to your private email addresses.

I will try to present as well  classical Fateanalytic-  as Pathoanalytical  interpretations , more or less following each other.

More personal information I will send you in my next Newsletter .

To finish this newsletter we send our best Szondi wishes,

Leo Berlips, Editor: >www.szondiforum.com<; >leo@berlips.com<

 General Information in French

 Cher ami(e)s  Szondiens  ,

EXTRA NEWSLETTER 05 03 08

Dear Friends,
Patong Thailand

I would have liked to send you all a personal email but instead I am forced to write you a General information mail. The most important information is that the Szondi forum soon will have its 200.000 th visitor. In reality we have had still more visitors since we started, because we did not use a counter registration right from the beginning but first several years later.

This might also be the time to thank my sons John Patrick and Jens Leo Berlips who, when they only were teenagers already had the technical know how to set up an internet website.

( JP became in the meantime a medical doctor and Jens works as a manager for an It-firm).

Moreover it reminds me of the encouragement by Dr. Robert Maebe, who was the first with whom I discussed the idea to start the forum. But also Dr.Juettner, then representing the Szondi Institute and who also supported my idea to start a Szondiwebbsite.

That the Forum could keep up such a high quality standard during all these years is for a greater part the contribution of Dr. Jean Melon, whose generosity allowed us to publish his articles about Pathoanalyse's development.

One of the most pleasant memories however from these early days of the Forum was when I quite unexpected got a very enthusiastic and encouraging email from Prof. Takahisa Yamashita, Japan. Then I became quite sure that the Forum would become a success. Since then he has visited me and my family personally many times in Europe and in Thailand, and my sons have been his guests in Japan.

The most pleasant event of the last two years was the Internet contact I got with Dr. Arthur Johnston. Since then I have had regularly contact with him, interchanging our experiences of personality testing by different methods. He is a scholar of great erudition and I am very proud to know him. He visited us in the summer of 2007 in Lund, Sweden. We have in common the fact that we both quite independently many decennia ago discovered Szondi. Dr. Johnston has already contributed with important translations of works by Szondi about Fateanalysis and also contributions by Jean Melon about Pahoanalysis.

Of course there are many more who have encouraged me and herewith I want to thank them in by this email. Especially the It technicians Slavick Sjibajev and his wife Oksana who have had since many years the generosity to run the Szondiforum website for free. They certainly deserve to be mentioned in this row of supporters and collaborators of our site. (By the way do you know that Slavick developed and sales a PC program for the interpretation of Szondi data?)

Last but not least I have to thank my wife Gunnel Berlips, who under all these years not only had patience with a husband who each day several hours disappeared working at his PC, but moreover during all these years sponsored the expenses of the Forum by her firm "Motivations Analysis Inc".

I THINK I MAY THANK THEM ALL HEREWITH IN THE NAME OF THE 200.000 SZONDIFORUM VISITORS FOR THEIR ENCOURAGEMENT AND ASSISTANCE.

Ad. 2. Mrs. Inez Grämiger asked me to publish the following text to make somewhat clearer the content of the information I published in the 01 12 07 Newsletter:
"The reason for this is that the "Szondi-Institute" and the Institute "ISCHAP" are two fully independent institutes."
"The official Szondi-Institut (Krähbühlstr. 30, Zürich ) motivated me to take over some education programs of the Szondi-Institute which are canceled for the moment and the HAP ( Hochschule f?r Angewandte Psychologie ) stopped totally the topic of Szondi, following the Bologna-concept ".

Ad. 3 Message from Dr. Tuula Minkkinen:

Dear Prof. Leo Berlips,
Thank you very much for your kind emails. The information is interesting. But I am so sorry to inform you that I am not able to continue the Szondi research started by the late Prof. Borg. Yours faithfully Tuula Minkkinen. Dr of psychology.
---------------------------------

My reply:
Dear Dr. Tuula Minkkinen,
With some delay I confirm herewith the reception of your email of the 24th. It really was a great disappointment for me to read that you are not continuing Prof. Borg's interesting studies. However the two books he wrote contain so much information that they for a long time may be used to get new insights in the application of colour psychology. Anyhow they made it possible for me and my friend Dr. Arthur Johnston to interpret Colour test results in a much more differentiated way. Therefore we would like herewith also to thank You for your contributions to the results Prof. Borg presented.
We wish you moreover a successful continuation of the year 2008.
With kind regards Leo Berlips.

Ad. 4. Translation of "ICH ANALYSIS"
Dr. Arthur Johnston will continue again with the translation of Szondi's "Ego Analysis". The following essential chapters are already ready for publication:

Chapter X

The Ego Concept in Schicksalsanalyse
[Fate Analysis]
===========================================
DIVISION II

ELEMENTARY EGO ANALYSIS

The Four Elementary Functions of the Ego
==========================================
CHAPTER XI

PROJECTION.
Concept and Forms of Projection
==================================
The fact that the Szondi Institute has the original copyright of the German original text and Dr. Johnston the copyright of the translation makes it temporarily impossible for me to publish this translation freely. For more information you can contact me. >leo@berlips.com<

Message from Dr. Bob Maebe:
I have put the translation of Mélon's course on our forum in a copypro of pdf. You can check it on Szondi and pathoanalysis on the site: http://home.scarlet.be/cep/ at the end of the cahiers. du CEP link (left upper corner).
COMMENTARY by editor:
Several decennia ago I also translated the main parts of Mélon's course into English. Since then you could read it on the Szondi Forum. However as my knowledge of English was not perfect and certainly did not come up to the standards of Dr. Johnston, who was literature professor, I am very very happy that he made a perfect translation of Jean Mélons compendium. So I will ask my technical assistants Slavick and Oksana Shibajev to take away my former translation and exchange it with this new one.
By my own experience I certainly know how much work and time these translations take. This, together with the fact that Arthur Johnston has started on another and still more time craving translation (translating at present Szondi's "Ich Analys") , without any direct honorary reminds me of the generosity of Dr.Jean Mélon who allowed me several times to publish many important contributions of the Cahiers on the Szondi forum.
I suggest that all of you who read contributions of Jean Mélon or Arthur Johnston show them your appreciation in the way it suits you. I am sure they would appreciate it.

Ad 6: Personal information
Since the beginning of December until the end of January my wife Gunnel and I had continuously visitors at our home in Patong. Although this meant for Gunnel a still more pleasant holiday, for me it too often interrupted my planned work schedule. This, together with the often very high temperature around 33 - 35 C., reduced my possibility for replying all the emails and greetings which came in. That is also the reason why I can not write more about our results with the colour test.
Anyhow I apologize to all of you to whom I could not send a personal reply.
We were moreover, around the 15th of January, forced to make a so called "Visarun". This meant travelling to the nearest border town to get a new visum. For us this meant the border passage near Ranong in Burma. This was made necessary by the Thai law which stipulates that foreigners cannot stay longer than 3 months in Thailand and then have to pass the frontier in order to get again another visa for three months.
After nearly four months stay in Phuket, at Patong beach sometimes I really long for the cool temperatures of Sweden and to taste again Swedish food. Since many weeks we had temperatures between 33 - 35 degrees Celsius and I can assure you that it is not easy to work or study in such high temperatures, especially as we only use fans to cool our rooms. Although when I read on the internet about the actual snowstorms in South Sweden I understand that we still are lucky, especially compared to the households with were cut off of electricity due to the snow.
However after another 2 months, at the end of March, when the spring soon starts in Sweden we hope to return - si Dieu veut - again to Sweden.
For my 88th birthday I received a first class Sony digital camera and made a lot of successful pictures.
(This is not as impressive as it sounds as it is next to impossible to make bad pictures with a modern digital camera).
Ref: Bargirls:
In some of my former personal reports I have sometimes taken up the disgusting situation of hundred thousands of women in Thailand who have next to no social assurance and have to sell their bodies in order that their family can survive. This time I got a still better insight in one of the main causes why nearly 80 % of the bargirls who come from Isan, a province in the poor North of Thailand, work with prostitution in Thailand, and especially in its main tourist centre Phuket.
The source of this specific information is the dairy of a bargirl she wrote with two Americans, apparently social workers. The book does not only give the tragic story of this girl but in between there are many sociological and statistical references to the situation in Thailand that the girls described.
I read the book in French, with the title "á 13 ans... la vie commence", by Jules Manzares et Derek Kent. Edition Bamboo Sinfonia Info in English: www.Only13.net

The girls and co-authors describe that the main reason for the girls to become prostitutes has to do with a kind of clan relation ship the girls have with their families. She does no exist as an individual so to say. It is a well known standard expression here, coined by foreigners who have a relationship with a Thai girl, that "when one marries the girl one marries at the same time the whole family".
The first thing the girl learns is that she, and not the boys (!), will be responsible for the income of the family and especially for the welfare of her mother. She is exposed to such a strong brainwashing by the mother and family that she in most of cases never anymore can feel free of this duty. As she never gets any chance of education neither the only way for her is either to work for less than 25 bath (5 Swedish Crowns) in a factory or shop or to prostitute herself. Then she can get ca 1000 Bath for a night. The mother and family are of course more interested when she transfers 1000 Bath. So the press on the girl is enormous.
This has the most incredible consequences. I saw two pictures in the Bangkok Post where one shows a bright modern villa which the mother had bought with the money her daughter had earned with prostitution in Japan. The other picture showed the daughter living next to her in poverty, with her two children living in a kind of miserable hut. Moreover after the mother has taken the lion part of the money the girl earned, another part is used for her brothers to buy a motor cycle etc. The same brother who when the girl was young has probably beaten her and was spoilt by the mother. This may sound like an exaggerated story but unfortunately it is true in most cases.
Of course there are other contributing causes, e.g. the general tradition of prostitution in East Asia where it always has been a normal situation. But the real cause is the miserable poor economic condition in the North East of Thailand. However I suggest you read the book yourself to find out for yourself how conditions are.
So far as for my vieuwpoints on the bargirls.

Szondi News, 01 12 2007.

Dear Friends,
This newsletter contains:
1. Memorial Prof. Jacques Schotte in English.
2. Information about the Szondicongress in 2008 in French and English.
3. Info about a new Szondi trainings Institute in Zurich.
4. Latest report about my trip to Thailand.
Ad. 1) You who read French have already been informed by the Szondi forum about the great loss in modern psychiatry by the death of Prof. Jacques Schotte. It was Schotte with his collaborators who developed "Pathoanalyse", a further development of Szondi's Fateanalysis. (If you press on the picture of Schotte you can find more information , this pix was made when Schotte was standing in front of his family home)

In the beginning of the sixties I was introduced to Leopold Szondi and to Schotte by my friend Martin Achtnich, creator of the BBT test and Ewald Bohm, the great Rorschach test specialist. Although I had in those days no formal certificates yet, I could only refer to my 200 pages translation into Swedish of the main points of Szondi's work. Nvertheless I was immediately accepted in the Szondi circle.

For me it was very stimulating to meet these two intellectual giants and I hope that by creating the Szondi Forum I have shown my gratitude for the great moral support this has meant to me in those days.

I specially remember a visit to Prof Schotte in Gent, his town of birth, together with Dr. Maebe and Prof. Takahkisa. Schotte guided us around in his beautiful home town and showed us also his house and library. The later was next to overflowing the house and I join some pictures to show this.

Unfortunately I have no time or energy to translate the interesting French articles I e.g from "Le Monde" which in a short form clearly show that Schotte can be considered as an intellectual of world format. He called himself sometimes ""The last of the Romans" (Le dernier des Romaines) referring to the rise of intellectual barbarism and vulgarity in modern time's standard. His death was a great loss for modern psychiatry and philosophy.

A NEW INSTITUTE for training in FATE ANALYSIS (ISCHAP) was opened in ZURICH in 2007 by Mrs INES GRAMIGER.

Institute ISCHAP: Iinterdisziplinare SCHA = Schickalsanalsye (Fateanalysis) P(psychology). The official Szondi-Institute in Zurich ( Krahbuhlstr. 30) asked her to take over the education program of Schicksalsanalyse (Fateanalysis).

It will be an interdisciplinary institute, which is working together with teachers from other disciplines.

She will train her students by an individual Curriculum. The student decides, which aspects of Szondi he wants to learn (how, when, degree of intensity, how long etc.) and she will create an individual program to reach this goal.

It will also be possible for people from foreign countries to study at the new institute (for example by staying in Zurich for a week or more while assisting at daily and concentrated meetings, either individually or in group..

The main goals to reach (by studying at the ISCHAP) will be:
ъ To study how to adapt the analysis of fate to other professions.
ъ Studies to become a Szondi-test-specialist.
ъ For psychologists : Advanced studies in Fate analysis.
ъ For psychotherapists : to become a psychotherapist using Fateanalysis. Advanced studies.
ъ For graphologists : to become a graphologist using Fateanalysis.

Generally. It will be possibly to participate in actual working groups and postgraduate groups.

For more information: www. ines-graemiger.ch
Ines Gramiger, Rebbergstr. 53, 8049. Zurich. Tel: +41/ 44 / 342 25 45 (342 43 53 )
Mrs Gramiger informed me that she will be glad to hear from many interested peoples from all over the world , and gladly to answer their questions ... She hopes to bring new blossoming in the life of analysis of fate .She had already a very beautiful first opening party at the 13. of October 07 with 15 students and very close persons.

As I had several times the pleasure to meet Mrs. Gramiger personally so I certainly can recommend her. She has the unusual gift of a very practical approach to and combined with a very solid theoretical knowledge of Fateanalysis. I do wish her the best of luck and hope many students will use this offered possibility to improve their knowledge of Fateanalysis.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

The 26 October 07 I wrote the following to some of my friends. Since then nearly three weeks have past and have we lived already 6 weeks in Patong. Nearly four weeks of these went by with continues heavy rains but since the last two weeks the real summer weather has arrived, with continuous sunshine and temperatures of ca 31 degrees Celsius
At the end of this first information of the 26 th I will inform you more about our experiences here in Patong.

26.10.07

This is to inform you that at last we have got our own wireless Internet connection in the new rented apartment where we live at present. It took more time than expected and I hope you did not get impatient.

We are today ten days in Thailand after a wonderful flight. We got a nice surprise by Finnair in the form of 2 business class chairs and could therefore sleep the longest part of the flight.

After a week at a hotel we were lucky to be able to rent a big apartment in the center of Patong, about 15 minutes form the beach.

Today I bought a mobile wireless connection unit which cost around 220 Euro, and we pay each month around 870 bath for unlimited use.

For me it is wonderful to be back in Thailand again with all its advantages and disadvantages. The temperature is around 30 degrees C. but the humidity is extremely high which makes it hard to be active.

Gunnel my wife did a great job by in a few days getting the household equipment which we needed, She has an incredible energy and I admire her for her endurance.

We live not far from the Paradise complex, the center of the Gay world. There I knew the Swedish owner of a small hotel mostly frequented by Gaypeople. He just took over the Swedish firm Relax which has the same object as our Medical Travel Inc., to intermediate cheap medical in Thailand, so he unexpectedly became a serious competitor. However we are planning to cooperate by all means and expect that his will be to his and to our advantage.

Thanks to my new Internet connection I can continue with my interpretations of colour tests, which can be send to me made anywhere in the world. Moreover I got already some orders to work out color tests. In the mean time I have become more and more experienced in this field and got positive feedback about the quality of my (blind) interpretations. I hope to be able and to continue studying still more in this field.

My main interest is, (together with the assistance of Dr. Arthur Johnston) concentrated to find the connection between the Szondi factors and the 8 colours and therewith I follow the example of the late Prof. Borg and his assistents, especially as written in his book "Szondi in the year 2004"

Also I must prepare soon a new Szondi newsletter so if you have text or news that you want to publish on the Forum just send it to me. Then I will ask my friends Oksana and Slavick in Odessa to put it there.

I will send to some of you a more specific reply to your emails but finish herewith this personal News from me.

Best wishes to you all from Leo Berlips, editor www.szondiforum.org.

22 11 07

In the mean time we discovered in the first place that there is never a paradise without a snake. Although we were very pleased with our apartment soon we discovered that at the rear from our house an enormous building construction was on the way to start. So last weeks we had great trouble with clouds of fine dust that went through the ventilation windows and also the disturbing noise o the hammering into he ground of cement pillars.

Moreover although I am still very happy that I can use the internet by a mobile connection I often have problems, e.g. it is difficult to start the connection, one needs much patience. I Sweden we were really spoilt as for the high technical standard.

But after these complaints I have some interesting positive news also. Due to my contact with the owner of a Gay guesthouse I could collect several colour tests of gay persons. However I have no yet had the time to work through the results. I hope to find a way that I can collect at least 30 colour tests.

I tried to take up contact with the Finnish professor who took over Borg's studies, as I expected that she ought to be interested to get registrations of this special Sh+ group, however I have not yet got any response at all from her.

It is often difficult in this heat to work, often I feel somewhat as kind of a "sleepwalker". It takes much more willpower to work and finish a project.

Therefore I have great admiration for my wife Gunnel who nearly everyday goes to a training studio to keep in form. My own physical exercises are limited to relative short walking periods, which is not easy when one is handicapped especially because I have to use a stick and the roads conditions are often poor and overcrowded and the road surface can often be very different.

The Phuket traffic in general reminds one of "horror" movies and the continuing noise is overwhelming. But after a month being exposed one gets accustomed.

In order to win time I often answer by Skype or Google voice mail. Unfortunately it seems that the quality of these transfers often change something it is not easy for me to check on. So I hope you let me know if you got my message OK.

As we already slowly reach the Christmas and New Years holidays, especially the big warehouses reminds us!, I want already here wish you a real

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEWYEAR.

I finish this Newsletter with Szondi Greetings from my assistents Slavick and Oksana Sjibajev and myself.

Szondi Newsletter 01 09 2007

Dear Friends,
Time is running fast and already we get close to the beginning of the Swedish autumn. As for myself I had an unpleasant time during spring and summer due to health problems but at present I feel much better. Especially, after that my wife Gunnel and I decided to leave Sweden during the winter and stay in beautiful Thailand again till the beginning of spring 2008. There we hope also, together with my other family members and my dear friend Prof. Takahisa Yamashita from Tokyo, to celebrate my 88th Years birthday, the end of December.

Notwithstanding the before mentioned problems I was still lucky enough to be able thoroughly to study Prof. Borg's book "Szondi in the year 2004" and found it very interesting reading. Especially as last year in November I started to refresh my knowledge again about of the Luscher test, a well known Colour test. www.luscher-color.com which was introduced by me in Sweden in the beginning of the sixties. Characteristic for this test is the very
